- Week 3 Update https://blog.grigsbyconsultingllc.com/movember-week-3-update-with-a-special-sharing-rogers-story/it has been enlighting talking with family and friends about their health challenges. Discussing if they have had their echocardiograms or other health screens if a disease runs in their family has been very insightful gives a reason to encourage each other
- Made some new connections on social media platforms that were real friends and family since my youth that for some reason we see each other in the community yet we were not connected

- Anna and I really enjoy these and hope we can get together in person or virtually via any of the video chat platforms, so if we haven’t reached out, feel free to reach out to us to set up a time that works. We know the holidays and your lives are busy, so don’t worry if it is for January or life gets in the way and you need to reschedule

Your experience is powerful:
- Shared 1 – Be like Roger, that has shared his experience in my week 3 update with you.
- If you have an experience you wish to share to bring about awareness to health issues, please contact me. Let’s find a way to get the word out so others know they aren’t fighting alone and may have allies right in their own circles they didn’t know were there.

Lessons Learned
- Tools and Resources – Understanding the tools available to participate in the Fundraising
- Donations – Movember with Facebook
- Materials – images, posters, logo’s
- Events
- Move tracking connections to MyFitnessPal etc.
- Matching – How to help others and me leverage matching options to maximize donations
- like Visa payment $25 match
- Giving Tuesday – Gates Foundation
- Facebook Fundraising
- Company Matching
- Forecasting vs Reality – Amount I thought, vs goal and who actually donated vs who I thought or hoped might
- Thought $100 for the first time, so 10x’d it as a good goal – Amazed
- Thought 4 people at $25 actually was 7 and most where $100 – Amazed
- Thought mostly immediate family and turned out to be larger “family”
- Time and Engergy – What I thought it would take vs what it did take in hours
- Time – Thought total would be 2 hours a week, 10 hours total, was more like 6 hours a week, so 25 hours
- Energy – It is emotional, this caught me off guard in a good way, I only knew it would take it, didn’t expect it to give it
- Comments and Feedback – Who commented and on what platforms
- It takes a network of platforms, tools, and each has its place, hands down it appears LinkedIn has the “views” and Facebook has the “comments” in my 2017 Movember case. I suspect paid promotional ads will be needed to gain real visibility into anyone’s “feeds” vs organic and thus I will need to budget that in the future like I do for my authoring and consulting campaigns. It was clear by actual conversion to page views on the blog to actual donations and comments that posts are “highly filtered” by the platform algorithms when dealing with links for off-platform content. So much competition out there to be in peoples feeds for fundraising and commerce, it is no wonder I hear people still say, I didn’t see that.
- Inspiration – I have a greater understanding and respect for the time and energy needed
- Ken Asher – DocuSign Team for my first Movember in 2012 as just a Stache member
- Douglas Karr – his efforts for the last three years for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Indiana Chapter with Music Tech Indy and Amplify Musicfest
- Impact – How many men truly need to focus more on their health as well as women
- I will say I know of at least 5 people that have had tests that needed them and are working towards better understanding and better health management. So this was the best result of all, helping people focus on their health before it sneaks up on them and it is too late to make any impactful changes.
